We really enjoyed all four cakes we saw in this group. This was a quick set of four, all close to each other.
56. St. Louis Arena
At first, I was all, "How very St. Louisy to put up a cake celebrating a building that was torn down 15 years ago." Certainly, we are known for our history and tradition, but sometimes the nostalgia here is a bit too anti-changey. BUT, this cake is adorable. I'm sorry we didn't get to it earlier because a lot of the top work is faded. It has tickets of various events set into the surface.
Sammy Hagar? Might as well jump.
57. Saint Louis Science Center
This cake is fabulous. Intricately painted by the talented Dennis Smith, it wastes no space and makes perfect use of the contours of the base, icings, cake layers. This cake is my favorite, easily, of all the ones we've seen so far. Just check out these details.
We made a quick trip through, just to come out on the other side, but I was impressed with the amount of updating that's been done since we last visited. It seems that some someones have finally chosen to prioritize some long-needed improvements.
Well done, SLSC.
Well done, SLSC.
58. James S. McDonnell Planetarium
The over-50 person in our group had a little bit of age-shock about some of the newer exhibits inside the Planetarium. "I remember that!," she said.
59. Steinberg Skating Rink
We tried ice skating at Steinberg Rink once. This cake is gorgeous, too! One of our family traditions is going to the balloon race in September.
191 to go.
