Sheldon Concert Hall got its start in 1912. It served as a home for a speaker series by the Ethical Society of St. Louis. It is now the site of over 350 events each year, mostly music. I like this cake. The music notes on top drip down the next layer.
38. Channel Nine Network I wanted the cake here to be more kid-friendly or Channel-9ey. Big Bird or something, I guess, or perhaps a picture of that really, really old guy from Donnybrook (Did you know you can watch whole episodes online?! Now that's exciting!) Instead, it's got a city skyline and the music and lyrics to a song. Channel 9 began airing in 1954, with a play called The Second Opportunity. In 1970, KETC became the local affiliate for PBS. 39. Sheldon Concert Hall How's this for a segue? Donnybook will be airing live from Sheldon Concert Hall on September 18. Wanna go? Sheldon Concert Hall got its start in 1912. Powell Hall The home of the St. Louis Symphony has been operating since 1925, and was registered as a Historical Site in 2001. We liked the mural on the wall behind. 42. Fox Theatre Cakelet took her parents to see Beauty and the Beast at the Fabulous Fox last year. This January, they're doing Cinderella. We'll be there. The City Diner is right next door. 43. Big Brothers Big Sisters When you're four, you take things literally. We had to explain that they aren't *really* big brothers and big sisters, but they're pretending. I think it processed correctly. 44. Centene Center for the Arts You've seen Centene Corp on this blog before. This Center for the Arts was established by a foundation of the same folks. The Center houses a bunch of smaller Arts organizations. 45. Saint Louis University SLU was the first University to open west of the Mississippi, in 1818. It now has over 13,000 students. This was our favorite cake for the day, because it was in front of the big fountain. Big fountain + wind = FUN. 205 to go.
