25. Schlafly Bottleworks
Schlafly brewery incorporated in 1989. In 2003, they opened this restaurant/bar, Schlafly Bottleworks, in Maplewood in what used to be a Shop n Save grocery store. They also have a full outdoor garden, live music, a farmers market, brewery tours, and events. We had dinner here. The pretzels and the cheese sandwich were much enjoyed. This cake is a milestone for us - it marks 10% found. :)
26. Shrewsbury Metro Link Station
Not far from Maplewood is the last stop on the MetroLink's newest line, at Shrewsbury. I believe the cake here is meant to celebrate that extension, and the MetroLink system in general. This was another grab-and-run job.
27. Ted Drewes
YUM YUM YUM. It's NOT ice cream! It's frozen custard, which is defined by its 10% butterfat and 1.4% egg yolk. It contains much less air than ice cream. It's rich, creamy, and smooth.
This is the fourth Ted Drewes location. The first was in Florida, then three in St. Louis - Natural Bridge, South Grand, and finally, Chippewa. This location opened in 1941.
Ted Jr personally travels to Nova Scotia each fall to select Canadian balsam firs to sell at the tree lot for Christmas.
They run a college assistance program for their teenage employees, who work very hard eleven months a year.
It really is good, guys! And gals!
