A very HOT summer day, as we slowly climb to the halfway mark.
108. Holocaust Museum
We did not go in the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center (which is either in Creve Coeur, or Maryland Heights, depending on who you ask). "The Holocaust Museum and Learning Center houses a 5,000 square foot core exhibition that provides a chronological history of the Holocaust with personal accounts of Holocaust survivors who emigrated to St. Louis. Photographs, artifacts, text panels, and audio-visual displays guide visitors through pre-war Jewish life in Europe, the rise of Nazism and events during the Holocaust between 1933-1945, and post-war events including the Nuremberg Trials and Jewish life after the Holocaust." And guess what? Admission to the museum and exhibits is free.
109. Youthbridge Community Foundation
Youthbridge connects philanthropists with youth-serving non-profits.
110. YMCA
Cakelet thought the YMCA was really neat! We watched a couple of guys play some hardcore pingpong right inside the front entrance, and she was very excited by the big swimming pool behind the cake with its "really cool!" waterslide. And she doesn't know the YMCA song, but she did this anyway. :D
"The Edward Jones Family YMCA is among the first projects made possible by funds contributed to the YMCA Vision 2000 Capital Campaign. The capital campaign is designated for the improvement of facilities in order to offer expanded programs to a larger population. In the late 1980s, the Board of Managers of the Northwest YMCA in conjunction with the Metropolitan Board of Directors saw a need for a new facility in the Maryland Heights area. St. Louis-based Edward Jones donated a lead gift for the construction of the facility."
111. Creve Coeur Park
Any other day, we would stay and play at Creve Coeur Park and Lake. But it was nearing lunchtime and 100+F, so we didn't stay any longer than necessary to check out some of the fun details on this cake. There was a watersports event going on in the water, but we just couldn't do it. We promise to come back soon!
139 to go.
