Now that we have officially begun, we know that our deadline (200 days from now) is November 11, 2014. That's perfect, because I flippin' hate winter.
So, here we go. Today we found our first four cakes:
1. Chuck-A-Burger
She really enjoyed the idea of my daddy taking me there when I was "four" to go see the old cars. We shared an Oreo shake and had fun looking at all the memorabilia on the walls. She learned about Elvis, carhops, and old cars.
And, she read a word! "HOT" on the bathroom faucet. :)

2. Airport
This one was hard to find, but once we did, I realized we should have looked here first. It's on the upper level of the main terminal, looking over the security checkpoint to get into the gates. It's near where the Spirit of St. Louis hangs. They redid this section of the airport in the last few years.

3. Payne Gentry House
This place was closed. :( It's only open Sunday afternoons. It's some kind of historic home. There's a little garden to the side with a sign describing medicinal plants. After googling, I can tell you that it has a history of being a haunted house, and that Payne Gentry was an in-home doctor. The best part of this one was the playground right next door.

4. Old St. Ferdinand Shrine
This one is the closest of the 250 to our neighborhood. It's at the very end of the block that they close off for the Florissant Festival. This place, too, was closed, so we couldn't go in. This cake was my favorite of the day.

The moral of day one is that some of us have no idea how big 250 is. We need a marble jar or something...
246 to go.
